Stretch Machines

Semi-Automatic vs. Fully Automatic Stretch Machines

Companies with large shipping output often need a better way of wrapping pallets for shipping.  Stretch machines offer the automation needed to accomplish the task in a timely and cost effective manner.  Stretch machines are available in both fully automatic and semi-automatic functions.  A warehouse should do a comprehensive analysis to determine which will better suit their needs.  Some questions to consider are: how many loads need wrapping each day; how quickly does a load need to be wrapped; can the company afford to buy stretch machines, or should they rent; and how much user support is the company prepared to supply for the machine.

The number of loads that need wrapping on a daily basis will help determine which stretch machines can accommodate you.  If you need fewer than thirty loads per day wrapped for shipment, then a semi-automatic machine will be able to provide that.  The downside to semi-automatic stretch machines is that they require an operator.  A fully automatic machine comes equipped with a conveyor belt on which fork lift drivers can drop loads and pick them up on the other end fully wrapped.  The price difference is quite high between the two options, but the needs of a specific company will determine which is most worthwhile.  Rental is also available for those companies without the wherewithal to purchase stretch machines outright or those that would prefer to have another company bear the maintenance cost.  Consider all of these issues before making a final decision on the type of stretch machines that will work for you.
